Fujian's half-year box throughput up 10.4pc to 5.37 million TEU
SEAPORTS along the coast of southeast China's Fujian province lifted 5.37 million TEU in the first half, 10.4 per cent more than in the same period a year ago.
The province's largest port Xiamen contributed 3.71 million TEU, 15.6 per cent more year on year. The second largest port Fuzhou lifted 936,100 TEU, up 9.9 per cent, according to Xinhua's report, quoting a source from the Fujian Transport Department.
In the same period, the port's throughput tonnage grew 12.1 per cent to 216 million tonnes, one month earlier in surpassing the benchmark of 200 million tonnes than in last year.
Xiamen's throughput tonnage climbed 13.8 per cent to 90.89 million tonnes. Fuzhou's increased 15.6 per cent to 60.28 million tonnes.
The number of international vessels increased 16 per cent to 153 in the period, according to the statistics from Guigang Maritime Safety Administration.
Inbound vessels rose 10.7 per cent to 72 sailings, and outbound foreign trade cargo went up 27 per cent to 53,500 tonnes.
